Beach Goth duo KINO MOTEL recorded and mixed their 10-track debut album Visions between the band’s 2 homes: Melbourne and Berlin. Rosa Mercedes and Ed Fraser have created an album with space, mood, feeling and complexity, while maintaining that the songwriting should come first, and that each song is what matters most.
REPEATER is our first taste of the upcoming record, with 2 minutes and 41 seconds of grunge-inspired slacker feels. Rosa sings ”I got a stutter, my head’s in the gutter”, the bass and synth meld together in a lush deep wall of sound, guitars feedback their way right through a verse before turning on all the boost pedals at once, and we feel the band sway together, tracking the song live on a hot summer day in Melbourne.
KINO MOTEL launch REPEATER at The Evelyn, Melbourne on January 12 2024. Presented by Heart of the Rat Records, with support from Dayfever.
