HOWLIN’ TIME Howlin’ Time is one hell of a funky blues based band located in Melbourne, Australia - music capital of AU. Recognised as one of the country’s premier groove based live acts,Howlin’ Time has for over thirty years performed around Australia playing major venues and festivals as well as interstate events and a successful three years in Europe.
Now Mal Kiymaz, founding member and lead guitarist has re-invigorated the band and put together an all-new line up comprising of some of the most experienced Blues Musicians in Melbourne with the purpose of hitting the Melbourne live circuit and cutting a new album, due in 2023.

BOBBY FLYNN(Vocals) An explosive and dynamic front man, Bobby Flynn is a vocal powerhouse with a soulful tone capable of soaring great heights.
With Howlin’ Time, he breathes fresh life into the Chicago Blues songbook, reminding us of the beauty, simplicity and raw power of a less complicated time. Bobby Flynn first landed into the psyche of Australian music as a contestant on Australian Idol in 2006. His electrifying live performances left audiences blown away.
Bobby has embarked on several national and international tours,and supported a range of national and international artists, including The Whitlams and Toni Childs (USA). He's also recorded with Australian funk/soul powerhouse The Bamboos, as well as releasing two critically acclaimed albums.
MAL I.KIYMAZ (Guitar) For the last thirty years Mal has represented the blues faithfully in Howlin’ Time. A genuine exponent of authentic soulful playing in the vein of his influences Otis Rush, Albert King and Luther ‘Snake-boy’ Johnson, Mal brings power and passion to his live performances along with years of experience and tasteful know-how. A genuine Australian Bluesman.
PETER NEAGOE (Bass Guitar) Peter has been playing the bass guitar around the Melbourne music scene since the early ‘70’s.Known for his tasteful,‘spacey playing’ and setting of the groove with feel , has led Peter to be an ‘in demand’ bass player for international touring artists like Kirk Fletcher and Chris Caine to name a couple. He is now applying skills with Howlin’ Time to ensure a great rhythm section that is to be reckoned with.
PETER PHILLIPS (Keyboards) Peter has been playing keys for thirty-five years. He started his musical career playing in blues and soul bands. Having previously been a core member of leading Melbourne blues bands and touring and recording with the likes of ‘Dutch Tilders’,he takes on Keys duties with Howlin’ Time with hundred percent passion.
BENJAMIN O’BRIEN (Drums) Having played in blues & funk rock bands throughout Melbourne for over twenty five years, not only does he provide the heartbeat and soul of Howlin’ Time. Playing your instrument is one thing, but feeling it with timing that is ‘second to none’ ,is something only a dedicated professional gets to achieve.
