Grievous Bodily Calm are a five-piece instrumental band from Boorloo/Perth, Western Australia.

Their genre-blending signature instrumental sound and high energy live show infuses IDM, beat music and jazz improvisation with modern electronic production and has seen them support artists such as Tame Impala, The Avalanches, Hiatus Kaiyote, Beach House and the legendary Mulatu Astatke as well as numerous festival appearances and sold out headline shows off the back of two acclaimed independently released EP’s.

2019’s Repel is a melting pot of lyrical melodies and intricate beats with a focus on conveying emotion through expressive compositions. The release was highlighted by Bandcamp’s ‘New & Notable’ and was nominated for Album of the Year at the 2019 Western Australian Music Awards.

Their latest release, 2020’s transportive three-track EP Arc, was written, produced and recorded in their home studio seeing the band progress with further experimentation in production, collaboration and instrumentation. The EP features the multi-dimensional shape-shifting Sync Step premiered by Bandcamp founder Andrew Jervis and Radiohead producer Nigel Godrich, and the ecstatic groove of Mosaic, with acclaim from outlets such as Clash Magazine, COLORS, NME, Earmilk, Worldwide FM, The Lot Radio, Triple J, Triple J Unearthed Feature Artist & more.

Grievous Bodily Calm will tour Australia in the latter half of 2022 with shows including the iconic Sydney Opera House Forecourt supporting Fat Freddy’s Drop, festival dates and headline shows before releasing their highly anticipated follow up EP due for release in 2023
