Rising Naarm/Melbourne duo Convenience Store present their first ever tour featuring ten shows across Australia’s east coast over July and August 2023. The pair record inventive and vulnerable DIY music in their basement studio, with radio play across KEXP (US), NTS (UK), JJJ, and RRR. They’ve released over a dozen self-produced DIY indie singles and music videos, many of which via the Chicago-based indie label Trash Tape Records.
Since returning to playing live shows late last year, the duo of Nick Baker and Jack Phillips have formed a full live band to bring their blend of indie rock, electronic, and folk influences to local audiences, showcasing a unique and experimental live set haunted by the detritus of rock convention. Convenience Store eschew the miasmatic fog of past sounds in favour of something forward-facing that might orient and personalise these times that feel out-of-joint.They offer dreamlike love songs that draw upon the sincerity of acts like Alex G and Porridge Radio as well as the ideas-over-everything creativity of The Velvet Underground.
This final Melbourne show is going to be a unique, vulnerable, and desperate spectacle. It's the biggest show they have ever put on. Don’t miss out – please grab a ticket.
