We are super happy to invite you all to our 5th anniversary celebrations. Yep, FIVE YEARS!!
Five years celebrating our Latin American roots and the roots of the ones who lived there before us. The ones who made us passionate for its legacy. A legacy we won't let die.

What a journey it has been, with so many people involved, so many smiles on the dancefloor, so many friends and what a beautiful community. We have been lucky enough to endure a pandemic and all the changes in our beloved home Naarm. So many reasons to celebrate!!

And for this special occasion we invited our dear friend Claudio, aka LA PAYARA, to come and celebrate with us all the way from Bogota, Colombia. He brings a delicious sound that merges the Afro-Colombian heritage with more modern and electronic beats and baselines. The result: un manjar de mรบsica! He will be performing live alongside a drummer to enrich his live show with some organic and tribal sounds.

La Payara embarks on an extraordinary musical journey that has spanned several years, immersing into the traditional rhythms and ancestral landscapes of various regions in Colombia. It goes beyond mere musical exploration; it's a profound connection with culture and its music. For La Payara, it's a spiritual ritualโ€”a sacred bond with sound and peopleโ€” a call to awaken our consciousness about human relationships, reverence for nature, and traditional Colombian music.

As this was not enough, we also invited the emerging duo TYGUA to visit us from Sydney to add extra Colombian sazon to this special evening. TYGUA is a duo of two powerful female artists, Danny Telas and Oroana. They are a futuristic musical project rooted in ancestral wisdom, that combines traditional melodies from Indigenous and African roots of Colombia, blended with electronic sounds and voices of both duo members. Their live set brings a diverse selection of traditional rhythms such as Bullerengue, Cumbia, Currulao as well as unique instruments such as percussion and wind instruments that are nominated as unique patrimonial and cultural heritage of Colombia and the world.

And of course, we wanted to have our closest collaborators and ambassadors of the Latinex community here in Naarm, Kaiman Jimenez & La Mestiza Katira (from Amaru Tribe), who will delight us with some of their new individual projects of Champeta, Cumbia, Rap, and more.

To finish el desmadre we will be sharing all the bangers we have amassed over these 5 amazing years, with DJ sets by curators and residents Cuerpo Negro & Otorongo, to make your feet lift from the ground and take you to infinity and beyond.

ISU TAKI is a collective of Latin-American DJs/promoters that began as a response to the lack of representation of emerging movements of underground dancefloors across Abya Yala (aka Latin America). These movements have in common the vision of re-vindication of the diversity of folkloric and traditional music by incorporating modern electronic beats to traditional melodies. ISU TAKI has been generating a space for new music genres such as folktronica, Andes grooves, Andes step, Afrofuturism, tropical bass, digital cumbia, Afrobeats, and more. As a result, a vibrant community has grown around it, including the installation of the traditional Andean dances troop, Wayra Muru. ISU TAKI has organised events since 2019 across Naarm and now extended to Meanjin, while actively collaborating with other collectives in NSW and QLD.
