SATURDAY 21 JULY
PAINT TO IMPROV
Ft. Taipan Tiger Girls, ZOND, No Sister
For the first time ever Leaps & Bounds will bring together 3 of Melbourne’s most exciting and experimental bands who will perform their sets with painters joining them on stage to create live pieces inspired by the music they and the audience are listening to.
Taipan Tiger Girls is composer, producer and all-round electric statesman Ollie Olsen, who has teamed up with experimental drummer and synth obsessive Mat Watson (Other Places), and feedback guitar droner Lisa MacKinney (Mystic Eyes / Hospital Pass). Together they make long and beautiful walls of noise, intricate and psychedelic; delicate and tough.
ZOND are a maximum volume, minimalist Soundrock group based in Melbourne, Australia. Founded in 2006, they are named after a childhood dog and/or satellite of the USSR. Their live shows and recordings vary from screaming punk psych metal noise to ambient alloy radiation field hum: all that can be known in advance is the intensity of the performance.
No Sister are a four-piece post-punk band from Melbourne. Originally started in 2014 in Brisbane by Mino and Tiarney, the two members later moved to Melbourne and teamed up with Murray and Siahn. The band released their debut self-titled LP in August 2016, which was also self-produced and self-released. In April 2017 the band released a split cassette on Vacant Valley and are set to be releasing a second album in late 2017.
